Silent Sunday

Here are some pictures from River's 2nd Easter

I can't believe it but next week on April 20th will be River's 2nd birthday. He's growing up so much and has the most fun personality ever. He is a little social butterfly and says "hi" to everyone he sees. He's making progress in his eating skills and is willing to try almost anything. He still won't eat very much of anything, but at least he's open to different flavors and textures. His favorite kinds of foods are SPICY. He loved Jalepeno chips which is crazy to me, but hey if he'll eat it, we'll keep giving it! He still can't go longer than 30 minutes to an hour off of his feeds before his blood sugar drops too low. He just wears his little backpack all day and doesn't seem to mind it at all. He is just amazing and I love him more and more every day.

We are having a Sesame Street themed party for River because he loves Elmo.

Calm

Wow, how did I let so much time pass since my last post? Shame on me! Overall, since the last post things have been....calm. Calm is a great thing around the Ross house. River is doing great and talking more about more every day. On our way home from one of our favorite dinner spots, E.Scott and I were trying to count how many words River can say and it has to be around 40-50 words. He understands pretty much everything we say though.

We did have a neurology appointment with River yesterday and it went really well. Months ago, I was concerned that he may be having absence seizures because he would just stare off into space for 10-15 seconds randomly throughout the day. Of course the EEG that we had done came back normal as previously reported. The neurologist thinks River is doing great and he doesn't suspect that he was having absence seizures. He was very intrigued by Congenital Hyperinsulinism and even read up on it before seeing River. He was very happy with how River is doing and said he is right on track developmentally!

Since our last post, here are some of the fun things River has been up to:
Went to the San Antonio rodeo ground with grandma, grandpa, and daddy
Went to the New Braunfels Childrens Museum with mommy, daddy, and mimi (I highly recommend this place to all the mommies out there!)
Answering questions with "Yeah" or "No"
Being Independent and Inquisitive
We've had several play dates with other kiddos: Preston, Lily, and David
Playing his Drum Set every day (pictures to come) This is his absolute favorite thing to do

Christmas in Dallas

We had a wonderful Christmas in Dallas. The night before we left, Mimi and Opi (my parents) came over and had an early Christmas dinner and we opened presents. Mimi and Opi got River a slide and I think this was his favorite present of all.

We stayed with E.Scott's parents for a week and got to see his brother's family. We only get to see them once a year around Christmas time and we always enjoy spending time with Chad, Symbra, and their two girls, Aruna and Annika. River had a busy week and got tons of good presents. First we went to the Dallas Zoo with grandma and saw elephants, giraffes, penguins, pigs, goats, and monkeys. River had a blast! I think his favorite part was getting to kiss the goats (pictures to follow). The second day we went to the Dallas Children's museum with grandma and grandpa. Boy was it crowded. River just ran in circles and explored. More than anything, he enjoyed running. His second favorite thing to do was play the drums and I must say, he is pretty good at the drums. He has a real drum at home so he gets a lot of practice. Then came Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Chad and his family arrived the Tuesday evening after Christmas. River had so much fun playing with grandma and his two cousins the rest of the week. They went to the park, fed the ducks, rode the train at Firewheel shopping center, and went to the coolest wooden playground ever. River really enjoyed all the attention he got from everyone. Ever since we've been home, he just seems bored!

Here are A LOT of pictures of our Christmas vacation:
